Overview
/Challenge
Redesigning the official website for Rock Hall, Maryland came with several challenges, especially working within an existing government structure and content-heavy system. A major issue was organizing outdated information and improving navigation so residents and visitors could quickly find key services without digging through multiple pages. Another challenge was balancing accessibility, clarity, and simplicity while still meeting the needs of a public-facing municipal site with diverse user groups.
/Solution
The solution centered on a full visual redesign that improved clarity, hierarchy, and overall readability for the Rock Hall website. A more structured grid system was introduced to bring consistency across pages, paired with stronger typographic hierarchy to guide users through content more efficiently. Updated spacing, contrast, and alignment helped reduce visual clutter and improve accessibility while maintaining a clean, civic-appropriate aesthetic. The final design creates a more cohesive and visually organized system that feels modern while still fitting the tone of a municipal site.
